Thanks Yew actually I love dendrobium from Indochina very beautiful and pleasant smell, this variety is from Vietnam is relatively very vigorous in growth habit as compared from northern part of Thailand.

    Hi there,

    Very lovely flowers.

Are they sprouting from the leafless canes?

I bought my dixa some years ago, then due to the heat of my city, it lost all of the leaves, only the canes with no signs of healthy growing roots. The canes looked greenish brown so I almost pruned the barren canes thinking that they were rotten. Then, I saw two new shoots. Now, they are about 2 inches or 5 cm.

Is it normal for dixa to drop leaves before flowering? How to flower this dixa, i mean growing conditions?

    Thanks for the advice.

Hi Joe there are two type of dixa one is brown black pseudobulb and the other is yellow, base on my experience the brown black pseudobulb very difficult to grow in my area and the flower even smaller than this one finally perished. This one is easy to grow as I can see the growth rate is very fast now almost about 8 inches in optimum condition, the buds always arise from the leafless canes so do not cut the old bulb, for the growing medium I used coconut chips with small amount of sphagnum moss so far very happy dont forget to give at least 50% of light, hope will give you some idea,
