Cool Cattleya intermedia alba 'Pine Knot'

This cattleya has been growing on my shelves for a couple years. I bought it at near blooming size. This is it's first bloooming and it threw six buds off of two p-bulbs. The flowers are nice and large and as they get older they are turning pure white. When they first opened they were a pale green/yellow.

    Connie,
Are you aware that many orchid specialists are telling that this plant is a hybrid and not a species.

I'm growing hundreds of C. intermedias and I did see thousands.
And I have to agree that this plant and specially the flower have several characteristics which didn't match with the characteristics of the C. intermedia species.

Anyway you did a great job to grow it in to a beautiful healthy plant. And the flowers despite the circumstances are beautiful.

No, I wasn't aware there was such a hubbub. Next time I will make sure to capitalize the Intermedia. I spend so much time right now with my repotting duties that I haven't been reading nearly as much on them. Thank you for the updates...I appreciate the help. One person cannot keep up with all the changes.

Connie it is very pretty. Some think that an error was made, as Horst notes. You wouldn't have to capitalize the "I" just note that the 'Pine Knot' clone is most likely not the species that it is listed as but a hybrid.

The leaves are classic intermedia and the plant has been very spiteful like all my other (some now deceased) Intermedias. lol I just change the tags when they tell me to. I have to say though, now that it's pointed out I have to agree. Maybe it should be a whole new group as they seem to vary widely. Some plants are very leggy while others bloom and stay on a compact plant. The color range also, from plain blues, blues with spots and the pinks. I am guessing it needs some looking into.
