Thank you, Horst, for your very generous remarks. Actually, I wasn't doing anything on purpose. Hahaha. It just came out that way. I'm happy that you like it.

A very good Merv Velthuis croos. Don't see many semi-terete a1/4-terete nowadays, which is a pity.

This orchid and these blooms seem particularly suited to your night shots! Very beautiful colors, and dramatic, effective lighting -- great work!

Really Yew Sung? There are still a number of them where I live. Although at the big annual trade fairs, there are more strap vandas and less semi-terete. There are still a number of Mokaras and Kagawaras at these fairs.

In the last 20 years or so, there has been less interest in semi-teretes but a very noticeable increase in strap leaved types and Mokara and Kagawara. I'm also glad to see renewed interest in Aranda but the same cannot be said of semi/quarter teretes. I remember that in the 60s and 70s 1/4 teretes was king here.

Why, thank you, Maura. However, the lighting here is solely the flash of the digicam. I put out all other light sources for all of these night shots.

Is that so Yew Sung? That's a pity since in our climate, quarter teretes are the easiest to care for. You just leave them sitting there in the sun, no artificial shading required, and one is rewarded with big, beautiful, long-lasting flowers. And most of them do flower more often than the straps.
