    Cool Broughtonia Cayman

    This one has been blooming for a couple days, and I kept waiting for the flowers to open more. Then tonight I looked up the parents, Bro. sanguninea and Bro. lindenii. The second plant obviously influenced the shape of the flower and although very pretty the shape prevents one from seeing the flower easily. Maybe with time the flowers will open more...

    I agree. I kept thinking i'd messed something up and it wasn't going to bloom. lol And I will make sure and update when it re-blooms.

    It makes you wonder why the flower wants to be so ... very ... far away from the rest of the plant!

    Probably not, Connie. Broughtonia tend to have incredibly long spikes -- not unlike Laelia anceps and many oncidiums.
