    Default Rhynchostylis retusa

This is another new acquisition. I have 3 other varieties of Rhy retusa, including an alba form but this particular variety from Burma (Myanmar) was just too attractive to pass up.. The individual flower is nearly twice as big as our local variety and the lip is exquisite set against the white, sparsely spotted petals and sepals. The spike could have been longer but the tip was broken during ransport from Thailand.

I have seen pics of near alba forms of this but can't remember seeing one here. This one is very nice. I suppose that with the increased interest in this genus & the internet, more variations are made viewable by more people. The retusa we see here & what I have are the usual pinker forms. I'd have this in a blink.

I couldn't agree more, Roy. We are seeing more and more varieties of many species coming out of Myanmar, now that the country is more accessible to foreigners and foreign trade.
