Bought as a 3 inch leaf-span seedling maybe a couple of years ago - I don't keep records of such things , since orchid growing is a fun hobby, and not a scientific pursuit ( well its that too, at times - but not when I buy a few plants). Here seen in a 4 inch basket, which will show sizes.
I suppose its a meristem, rather than a remake. Whatever it is, it is a nice addition - or will be when it gets a big bigger.
My original Vandas were bought about 20 + years ago, and whilst I still have most of the 50 or so plants from that time, they are now getting very scruffy - leaves which have been on the plant for at least 10 years tend to be a bit damaged, browned leaf tips, black spots etc.
I am thinking a of a major cultural change - going back to flood and drain ; maybe I'll try it out on a batch ofseedlings , and if it works, just junk the old ones, and start again.

Very pretty! Those are large flowers for such a small plant.

Those are a gorgeous color. In a few years you will be getting big spikes full of flowers.

Wouldn't it be nice to hang around and pick up scraps when Geoff junks the old plants?

I was thinking the same thing. The old Vandas seem to provide me with unconditional love. Never was good at tossing despite many suggesting I should. Beautiful size flower and so tiny. It motivates me to believe in earlier blooming for my seedlings.
