I showed this plant - Dendrobium amethystoglossum - with its buds and a few flowers open , thinking that they would probably open sequentially ; but no, here it is with 13 spikes of flowers . Maybe something lilke 400 flowers ?

I showed this on the plant table of my Society a couple of days ago , also showed Dend moniliforme with 74 flowers.( The same clone -Phyllis - was awarded in USA with 29 flowers smaller than mine ! ).
Neither got anywhere - not even a joint ( with two other plants) 3rd place. I felt rather badly done by ; in fact I got as far as draftfng a letter to the President complaining of the judging, but in the end did not send it or say anything to anyone. With bad (IMHO) judging, you just can't win.
Although of course, on a cold winters nights, looking at my plants, and then looking at the Society programme for the night and thinking it of little interest, it may sway me to stay at home.

I've taken plants to the orchid society for judging knowing they were pretty special and had them go completely ignored. Often it seems that 'judging' at orchid society tables is not really based on the quality or quantity of the blooms, but rather other factors. I'm sure many of the members of the society loved this beautiful and well bloomed Dendrobium amethystoglossum. Thanks for sharing it with us here. It is stunning.

    cheers,
    BD

Geoff, how long are you having your plants. It seems to be in very good condition. Congratulation.

I believe I bought this one at a WOC . That was maybe 5 years ago ? It is potted in just sphagnum, and for several years now I have been saying, maybe I ought to repot it ...but if I doi, I may upset it ; and if I don't, and it starts to go downhill, then it may be too late. I think I must do it, when the next new growths start !

This is an amazing display. Sorry it went unnoticed, I would just like to produce one plant that was 1/2 as amazing as any of yours.
