    Default Ren imschootiana 'Waterfield'

and here is the current pride and joy of my garden, it took months for all the flowers to open. the largest is only just over 2 and half inches, so i guess this is one of the smaller flowered renantheras. no scent. this is the first time it flowered for me. it did well outside over the winter. around 50 flowers i think. this is the first time i have grown a vanda type without any medium, just the vanda basket without killing it... but we've yet to face the california heat this summer... i'm sure i will tuck a bit of moss around the roots when it warms up. i have been misting the roots every morning and dunking it in water twice a week.

the cool thing about this is the backsides are more fire orange, and depending on the angle and light they can look either red or orange, or if there is a bit of wind and the sun is right they seem to flicker like a flame. it catches my eye all the time from inside the apartment. i'd like to find some hybrids of this for the temperature tolerance, but something crossed with a larger flowered type... i here some of the relatives have over 3" flowers easily.
