[QUOTE=orchidresearcher;365104]Hmm... I'm not sure I have taken photos of exactly this type of orchid, but here are two similar ones with photos and names!
Encyclia Green Hornet (one parent is Encyclia cochleatum...or as it is now known prosthechea cochleata)
    Attachment 66031

i think the first picture is actually 'encyclia lancifolia' which is the one that has now been made a variety of cochleata instead of a separate species, and it the other parent of mine? lancifolia is fragrant, i found one mention of an odd smell, and the flowers looke the right size, but a different distinct lip, mine looks like a cross of the two. but there is a chance it could still be also a lancifolia. or this 'dwarf' variety i here tell of.

anyway, squidward is spiking again, one flower open for a few days now, will post some pics soon. there are 4 spikes total, but 2 are a bit behind. 4 new growths coming up already also. they both start growing at the same time.

the flowers are the same small size as last year. short petals, small dark lip.

squidward's flowers are lasting a bit longer this year, last year they got knocked out by a severe heatwave. this year it has been warm, but no real heatwaves since this started flowering. 4 stems this year. same stinky little squids. very strong scent in bright light. since the flowers are lasting longer (first to open just now fading) they are getting a little bigger after opening, so this cochleata may not be a dwarf after all. the flower petals are nearly doubling in length after opening.
