Default Vanda tessellata X Mkra. Redland Sunset

My only Mokara, but I noticed that a good number of my vandas are tessellata crosses . When I was first started growing vandas I killed every Mokara and Kagawara I got, so I stopped, then last summer I felt more confident got this plant it's growing great and now blooming.

    beautiful

now named Aranda [Aranda.] (syn. Mokara or Mkra.) Michael Coronado

    more name changes

The biggest change stems from the reclassification of ascocentrums as vandas. Most importantly, Asctm. curvifolium was renamed V. curvifolia
and Asctm. miniatum became V. miniata.
This caused a ripple effect throughout the database as follows:
    1,899 Ascocenda (Asctm x V) became Vanda
    239 Vascostylis (Asctm x Rhy x V) became Vandachostylis (Rhy x V)
    166 Mokara (Arach x Asctm x V) became Vandachostylis (Rhy x V)
    97 Kagawaara (Asctm x Ren x V) became Renantanda (Ren x V)
    86 Christieara (Aer x Asctm x V) became Aeridovanda (Aer x V)
    65 Devereuxara (Asctm x Phal x V) became Vandaenopsis (Phal x V)
49 Asconopsis (Asctm x Phal) became Vandaenopsis (Phal x V)
    Etc.
The next biggest change is some vandas were reclassified as papilionanthes. Importantly, Vanda teres became Papilionanthe teres and V. hookeriana became Ple. hookeriana:
    664 Vanda became Papilionanda (Ple x V)
    169 Ascocenda (Asctm x V) became Papilionanda (Ple x V)
    17 Vascostylis (Asctm x Rhy x V) became Vanchoanthe (Ple x Rhy x V) Etc.

Of note, Neofinetia falcata was reclassified V. falcata; Christensonia vietnamica became V. vietnamica; and Aerides flabellata became V. flabellata. Therefore:

    26 Nakamotoara ( Asctm x Neof x V ) became Vanda
    25 Christieara (Aer x Asctm x V) became Vanda
    18 Vandofinetia ( Neof x V ) became Vanda
    Etc.
In total over 4,300 Vandaceous were changed.

Thanks Murray for keeping us up-to-date. I will take some time to get used to the changes ..... if at all.

thanks everyone your views and comments appreciated, and thanks Murray for the update on names, but I have to admit when it comes to ever changing orchid nomenclature my eyes glaze over and my brain hits an automatic off switch, I think this is perpetrated by the people who make blank plant tags, thanks again
