A CCM is possible, I think. However since it blooms at this time, I have to take the plant to some meeting very far away ...

You're right, Hoa - very far away. Mapquest says it's 5.38 miles to San Marino from Pasadena! 7PM on May 8th the judging center there will be waiting to award you a CCM...

    Oh I see,
That is very close, I am afraid! But the next meeting is May 8, which is at least 2 weeks away. I don't know if the blooms would hold up well until then. Some flowers have been bruised up from last time when I transported the plant for the society meeting. Regardless, I will keep this in mind.
    Thanks and cheers. Hoa.

    We'll keep our fingers crossed!

Now that you know it's there, you can garner lots of awards for your spectacular plants, without having to hunt down shows.

    Default Cattleya gaskelliana

Well, I have not posted in my most favorite thread for a while, more than a month already. It's just that the catts are so busy making new growths, roots and leaves, hehehe!!! But a few early birds just start showing some color for our enjoyment!

Cattleya gaskelliana is a great species. From my experience, it is a very temperature tolerant species that you can grow it outside here in Southern Cal. It is floriferous and has a lovely and very pleasing fragrance as well!
    Cheers. Hoa.

A good clone of a great cattleya species. Giant flower that is, the bloom is as big as your head! Some of us have a really big head, you know!
    Cheers. Hoa.

A great blue catt! The first picture was taken when the blooms just opened. The second picture was taken much later, showing the gorgeous coerulea (violet) color once it reached maturity. The flowers are fragrant as well!

    Cheers. Hoa.

Gorgeous yellow with lustrous red lip and yellow eyes! Saffron fragrance! One of the best yellow catts out there! The flowers just opened like 2 days ago (Sunday) so the yellow color has not fully developed. I will post more pictures of this beauty later. So enjoy!
    Cheers. Hoa.
