Default Lc. Chiou Jye Chen 'Fong San #1'

Well, the spike from this plant has two buds and we have seen the bloom from the first bud. But this plant has more surprise in store for us in the second bloom. This plant does another acrobatic trick on us on the second fllower. This time around, the abnormaly - the floofy ear feature now can be seen on both petals! And one of the sepals wants to turn itself into a petal!
    I still think it's pretty!
    Cheers. Hoa.

A smallish catt with dark red-wine bloom. First bloom seedling. Heavy fragrance!

I hope you guys like the floof exhibition from Doc Speedo so far? Hehehheehee ...

I hope that I got the name for this plant correct. It is actually one of my prized catts in the collection. I have not seen any bifolate catt like this one. A giant among the catts, large chubby canes with big fat leaves, it puts out >1 foot long (~18 in.) spikes around this time of the year with salmon-red splashed apricot-yellow giant flowers!
I wonder if this cross has been registered? I also would love the take this plant for judging sometime in the future but I think the flower crowding on the spike might prevent it from getting a good score.

    Cheers. Hoa.

Oh, you are probably right! Next time it is in bud, let me know and I will come down and pick it up so you don't have to look at it!!!

All the beauties are wonderful, the Lc. Chiou Jye Chen 'Fong San #1' reminds me of a Hawaiian Lightning, only with white color instead of yellow...

This one has gone crazy! I really like it though. I don't necessarily agree that orchids always have to be zgomorphic. Somtimes, variety wins in my view anyway.

And, I do love Doc Speedo's floof exhibition! It is always a pleasure!

    Cheers!

    Sir Speedo,

Thank you for the magnificent display of flooferama! And more antics from the special trick Cattleyas!

The Irish Pepper cross has not yet been named. That's some gorgeous rainbow sherbet show! I was really suprised to see that C. Irish Pepper is a primary cross bicolor x intermedia by a species granulosa. The plant you have looks so far from any strong species influence. The Pot. must have really stirred the pot as it were.

And I'm always a sucker for a dark red Catt! Thanks for the show!

Yeah, the Rugleys Mill 'Mendenhall' is a great plant. Mines just finishing up blooming, the fragrance, IMHO, is one of the best of the catt fragrances.
