In this thread, we have seen many colors/styles except the green and blue catts. Luckily, the green cattleyas are starting to bloom.
The flowers from this clone has a very crisp green color and nice contrasting red lip! They also has a strong spicy fragrance too, unlike the sweet scent of purple catts. This plant usually bloomed only once a year, but this year, it went through two growth cycles hence allowing it to bloom twice, summer and December/Jan.

    Cheers. Hoa.

Okay, OKAY!!! You are making me crazy - my favorite color combo catt. Sheesh! IF you have a George King Serendipity blooming now I will be really jealous. Mine sheathed, but no buds

    Dear Diane,

Well, my George King bloomed a while ago back in October so you are OK there. Sheath but no bloom, that could be there is not enough light or the plant is just waiting to form buds. Tease it by giving it more light and/or give it a whiff of the cold weather, i.e. a few nights at temperature in the mid 50s, if you can do it.
One of my sunset color catts is also about to open. Not as glorious as the George King but it will do for the catts parade. Maybe I will have its picture posted next week.
And Happy New Year to you.

    Cheers. Hoa.

Okay Hoa - - How about I bring all my recalcitrant Catts down to your place and "board" them with you for a few months?? You can cure their ills and send them back to me in gorgeous bloom!

Actually - the light is a good point. Since moving my plants to the plant cart they have started to improve in appearance and new growth. And since it is going to be warm for a few days, I slip the George King outside at night..... It's so beautiful when it is in bloom... sigh....

Catts need lot of light, a bit short of burning them in order to bloom and bloom well. So try that first.

Boarding your plants at my place, hmm, maybe...We can talk about that later...

Another floofy catts is in bloom. Rose pink with dots, the effect of B. nodosa in its recent lineage.

    Cheers. Hoa.

Default SMBL. Vera Cruz 'Gran Sue' HCC/AOS

    Hi Bruce,

    THANKS!!!

Another beautiful cattleya alliance orchid in bloom. This one is special! The SMBL intergeneric is a hybrid between Schomburgkia (Schom.) and Laelia (L) and the Vera Cruz grex is a cross between L. anceps and Schom. Kalihi. This particular clone is the coerulea version, i.e. blue! Very dark violet lip in contrast with pristine white of the petals and sepals, with a hint of violet splash on the curvy sepals! Unusual and extremely beautiful! The fragrance from this one must also be noted. The flowers have a honey-like fragrance, unlike any catts that I have ever taken a whiff.

    Cheers. Hoa.

    Default Blc. Zul

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for the lovely comments! Sure that cheers me, like a new orchid just starts to bloom!

Sunset color catt with rose-salmon blooms, quite similar to the color of the George King! This plant, a cross between C. skinneri and Blc. Orange Nugget, is very robust, making many growths every year and very tolerant of adverse growing conditions!
Although not an immediate attention grabber, these flowers however are quite pleasing to the eyes.

    Cheers. Hoa.
