Cool Two Asco Ladda Gold's in Bloom

Here is Ascocenda Ladda Gold and Rhychocentrum Ladda Gold. They both have wonderful scents and both decided to bloom again already. Keeping up with spraying, fertilizing and repotting is making a huge difference with the 'chids lately.

Wouldn't consider the color on either one of those "gold" ... but lovely orange anyway.

I think that the name comes from the setting sun. It makes them appear to be gold and they shine so that a picture won't come out.

    Beautiful, gorgeous, love them both.

I have 3 baby seedlings of the Ascocenda Ladda Gold, 3 of 5 seedlings left. One now has the two lower leaves ready to drop due to my getting water on the leaves. I so hope to get these blooming in......what?..... 5 years?

    Thanks for some great photos.

I had baby vandas back when I started growing orchids. I lost every single one. Good luck to you. I now buy mainly blooming size plants. Some Ascocenda bloom in 3-5 years. If you keep up with your spraying they should give you lovely blooms someday. The problem with vanda types are that they need to be kept pest and virus free so that the growth stays at the optimum level. Any set back can mean extra years to those coveted blooms. I won't touch anything vanda that is not blooming size anymore as some of them have to be huge before they bloom...and they take up precious growing space. I hope someday we will see the pictures of your baby orchids.

Thanks Connie, I would love to see them bloom, but do not have a whole lot of faith in my ability to get them there. Still I will give it my best. My first orchids ever were like mine and a purple Vanda. The Asco. Sun Fu Gold, I probably bungled that name, did bloom for me, but it was considerably larger, sadly it got the mealy bugs and in my newbie ignorance tossed it.
