    Hello!

The above image relates to a previous thread that is entitled 'Vanda Blue Magic.' Basically this shows that patience is a virtue, and that the blue flowers have improved significantly in just a few days. I am now rather pleased.

I have posted this progression (the 1st photograph in the above selection pertains to how the flower spike looked on the 28th August, and the last was taken today) to show how the flower evolved with time - and they certainly took it!

Below is a photo taken in the middle of the day, the ones above were early evening...The full sunlight photograph probably indicates the closest colour match to what my eyes can see:

NB. It has been sunny here in the UK, and warm enough for me to leave my Vanda outside for a couple of hours (over the weekend, and taken in at night!) - which seems to have helped!

    Regards,
    Kate.

P.S I have not digitally altered the colour.

Congratulations , i found that back lighting the flowers with natural sunlight intensifies the "blueness".

Thank you Steve. The blue Vanda is my favourite of the orchids. I consider it to be a very highly evolved plant.

What a huge change! I have learned that with certain cattleya I might as well wait a couple days for them to open and look right. But I've never seen that huge of a change from opening to the final flower on a vanda. Yours should get an award or something...lol! Wow! And the finished look is gorgeous!

Thank you Connie! I can hardly believe it for myself to be honest, however this is truly what has happened. I would have expected that the second and third flowers would be an improvement, however the 1st which originally opened so sickly looking has doubled in size and colour as well..(Btw there were initially 6 buds..3 have survived to flower).
I have been taking the Vanda outside whenever it is sunny (I did this in the summer as well), and moving it back in again when the night comes.

Btw - this I my favourite orchid specimen (do not tell the others). She gets alot of attention, and is a rather vigorous plant; it is obvious to me that this orchid 'wants' to flower..It is just inhibited by the less than perfect conditions that I am able to provide.

    Hi Ed,

Thank you. And you were right about flowers improving after they have opened.

Great photos Kate I agree with you initially you doesn't think that it's blue vanda then time will explain everything, even you can see one of the parent V.coerulea species immediately they open looked very ugly subsequently so cool this is common phenomenon occur in this species.
