Default New acquisition- Epi. Hula Dancer 'Paradise Orange"

In the past Angela posted pictures of her magnificent reed stem Epidendrums. These plants immediately went to the top of my want list. I was able to obtain this plant. It is a little battered from transport but is a young healthy plant. Actually, want lists do not work for me because I want almost every orchid I see. I must be addicted because I have more orchids than I can reasonably manage but always really "need" a few more.

How gorgeous! I love the epi's. I put one of my plants against the fence and I'm hoping it will be okay through the winter here. Next year when it is good and established i'm hoping it will put out tons of flowers again. Meanwhile, i'll just sit and drool over yours...love the color!

What I love about the botanical (& Zoological) world is that I keep coming across things that I have never seen before...This is one of them and I find the completely vertical/perpendicular flowers to be most fascinating; it has a most uniform and rigid shape, yet every attractive!

"Paradise Orange" seems a bit of a misnomer, but very nice compact plant. How tall is it?

The orchid is 18 inches tall. It is my understanding that these top out at about 24 inches. The term "Paradise Orange" is not really a misnomer. The misnomer would be calling me a skilled photographer. The center of the lip is yellow which changes to orange on the edges. I have attached an additional picture which shows the orange a little better but still does not do the orchid justice. The orange is much more pronounced than the photo exhibits.
