    Default NoID Philippine Species Orchid

Another one from the hills of Maguindanao. I don't know if this is the right sub-forum as I have no idea what this is, but it looks like a terete vanda to me. Flowers are small, about half an inch or less across, and they are scented.

That is Luisia species you are right very nice scent indeed make sure the medium is not to wet as this plant really hate that put under the shade for few months until the dehydration disappear with the new roots ,very free flowering.

Zainal, you are truly my savior!

It is a Luisia alright, and I would never have guessed in a hundred years because I didn't even know such a genus existed. Now, I've posted again in the wrong sub-forum, so maybe Bruce could help me transfer this to "Orchids of Other Genera IN BLOOM".

It was in complete shade for about two weeks, but now I've transferred it to a sunnier location meaning that it gets around 33% sun but no direct sunlight. It does look dehydrated, but at first I thought it really looked naturally like that.
I don't use any medium so drainage is excellent. It is attached to a tree near some Aerides and a Rhynchostylis, all of which do not have any medium.

I hope I'd learn exactly what kind of Luisia it is as I could not seem to find an exact look-alike over the net at present.

Hi Angel, do you have a closeup shot from the flowers, including the lip?

The 3rd photo is the closest I got Ron. I was having trouble with the macro. I think all those "things" in the background like the leaves and branches "confuses" the digicam's macro focus. I am out of town right now but when I get home and the flowers are still there, I will try to get a good close-up shot.

I am in the city of General Santos, one of the most southernmost cities in the Philippines. I went to the park where there is a plant market. I was looking for a rhynchostylis, another Philippine native. Sadly I missed the local fiesta by about a week. Most of the vendors were not there anymore. I did not find any rhyncho.

Let's all pray that Ron and his family are OK. They live in Tacloban in Leyte which was devastated by a tropical cyclone yesterday. Power and communication lines are still out till now. Please also pray for all the Filipinos who are victims of the storm.
