There is some pink in it Ed...and it is usually clearer under low light levels.

Thanks Yew Sung. It does look like an oversized ascosenda. And you know my frustration with ascocendas. That's why I like this one very much.

I am 'all in' on orchids at this moment. Wish I had started sooner! I haven't even done more than keep them alive and have them add more leaves than they have lost but I know I will be successful. I just need to start learning more orchid terminology. And what characteristics are from what non-hybrid orchid. I read Ron-NY's and other experts here posts in awe.

I will be posting pictures of my new lighted growing areas in the next few weeks in the Growing Area section of the site.

Way to go Harvey. I've been in orchids for more than 50 years except for a few unavoidable lapses and am still fascinated and awed by everything orchids. I am still like a little boy in a toy shop every time I attend an orchid show or visit a nursery. To keep up with the latest I visit this Forum every day and I've learnt so much here and enjoyed every minute of it.

Hello King. I got this one for 13 US dollars, blooming size. That was in 2012. There were three in a row on display and they were all similar but the tags were different. This one had the most rounded floral shape.

I'm sure you'll be good at it, Harvey. Step 1 is genuine interest and that you have lots of. Throw in a little luck and a lot of common sense and you'll be off to a great start.

I am dealing with my first insect issue. Looks like mealy on my zygo that is starting to bloom. One of 4 flowers was fully open this morning and a second starting to open.

I am on it with alcohol spray and vigilance. Also keeping an eye on my other plants looking for signs of spreading.

Also, no more new orchids, as hard as that may be, until I am insect free again.
