Default Dendrobium Green elf x Dendrobium convoiutum

    God I am so weak!

I went to a local garden center this morning to pick up a few remaining items I needed for my orchids and a palm plant that needs repotting. So after finding the humidity tray, 3" clay pots and the pot for the palm, I happened to walk by their orchid display.

And of course one immediately caught my eye.

And yes, it came home with me.

    It is named:
    Den Little Green Apples
(Den Green elf x Den convoiutum)

    Lovely little flowers!

There was also a very, very nice paph (it is huge) that I may go back for.

Quite nice. Certainly not the type of thing that would be found at my local garden centers. heh

It is one of our higher end garden centers. They have quite a selection actually. Bad news for me!!! LOL

But they did send me out to their recycling dumpster to pick up some sectional trays for my growing stations. I did well!

Congratulations on a great buy. Den convolutum is from the Latouria section of dendrobium, all of which have the most gorgeous lips. You are very lucky to find this as there are not many crosses from members of this section.

Thanks for the info. Had to look-up the reference though. This is what I found:

Latouria type includes about 50 species distributed from the Philippines to Samoa, but without doubt the centre of distribution is Papua New Guinea, with about 45 species.
They are epiphytes of rainforest trees from sea level to high altitudes, usually in areas of year round rainfall.

OMG, I LOVE this one. Every time I see it I think "I need to order that NOW!!" But then I realize I have absolutely no place to put it, and I hold off. Having said that, if it every showed up in one of my garden centers, I'd be done for. That beauty would be coming home with me in two seconds flat. Congrats on the find!!

By the way, does it have a scent? I've heard people say that Den Green Elf has a delightful scent. Not something super-strong, but a lemony-type smell that is detectable in the middle of the day. I'd be curious to know if this one is fragrant!

Unfortunately, I do not detect a scent from it.

And I did instantly decide to buy it. I was sunk. Ended up with 2 today because I can't help myself.

I would have bought it too, when I see something unusual or really cool, I fall victim to my addiction and just hope I can find it a home and grow it and bloom it! lol

I'm pretty good at not trying the ones I've killed a few times though, too sad to want to do that again.
