    Default Dendrobium Blue Sparkle

I've had this for maybe a couple years, and this is its first blooming. It suffered a bit last year, but it has since recovered, and should be back to its vigorous self now. I bought it as the cross "Den. Samarai x Den. Blue Sparkle ", but I am sure it is not that and just a Den. Blue Sparkle. I still like it a lot, but would like the cross also. It's a big Dendrobium though and quite the space and light hog in my limited growing area.

I wish that they would quit naming purple flowers "blue". That drives me nuts. LOL

Great color and form.Glad this orchid is doing so well. I also agree that naming what is purple in color should not have blue in the name...............AL

I agree a very interesting and pretty flower.

Looking for it on the web turns up very little info/links on it. Did you know Blue Sparkle is a woman's shoe too?

Keep in mind that this has big canes. The one that is flowering is probably close to three feet long, and I'm sure they get longer/taller.

Some dendrobiums are pretty big plants. I just received a 'Den spectabile' that is now my 2nd largest orchid next to the cymbidium at 24" tall. One cane is brand new and is almost 24" tall itself and it hasn't even sprouted any leaves. This thing is huge. And spiking. I wonder how long this spike will get. I'll open a new thread on it once it blooms.

Mine needs to be repotted. Up to a larger pot as well. But until the flower cycle ends, it will be staying right where it is.

Wow....This flower kind of looks like an alien creature, but in a good way. It has an exotic beauty.
