    Default Dendrobium lasianthera

This is the last orchid I purchased at a local county plant fair the first part of May, it was in bud at the time I purchased but it took this long for the flower to fully open. My concern now is what do I repot this in, currently this plant stands 4 feet tall, I guess lots of rocks for the bottom of the pot first for weight before media.

That's some spike! Does it really need to be repotted?

It is currently in sphagnum moss and it has turned green so yes it needs to be repotted, I also like my potted orchids be planted in clay pots. Sphagnum only last for about a year in the south Florida climate. When I took these pictures today I had to put the pot on the ground, you can just see the top of one of the canes behind the second picture, the close-up I had to sit in a chair and look up, with the spike it is over 5 feet tall.

Yea, I'm going to clay for all my Den's and Cat's. Repotting as soon as they show new roots or in the case of new plants, as soon as they finish flowering.

One of the most desirable and beautiful of dendrobiums. In the 1960s it was almost impossible to obtain one outside Papua New Guinea. Congrats.
