A moment ago, I was checking the AOC awards list, and the AOC description reported on the awarded plant's flower being yellow-orange for all segments. There is a photo of the awarded plant's flower - fully yellow in colour.

Your flower is a very very nice looking one though.

The contrasting colour round the edge eof the lip is the unique sellinng feature, as salesmen say. Very nice.

    Totally agree Geoff.

Hopefully Roy is able to trace the name of his plant, as it appears that the plant in the opening post isn't Rth. Free Spirit 'Laina'. I think that the tag got mixed up with something else, or the seller didn't put on the correct tag.

The slight pink banding around the petals is quite nice too. I would love to find out what plant it is, so that I can purchase it from a nursery if it's available!

It is correct. The one thing I don't like or have is mislabelled plants. Please DON'T challenge what I have, you don't know me or my background or knowledge.
Someone once showed you a picture !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was it correct ??????????????????????
It would appear your knowledge could be questioned.

Roy.... there was no challenge as such. I believe your plant is not Rth. Free Spirit 'Laina'.

You didn't fully read what I had written previously. Let me mention it again here ........ the flower of 'Laina' is described in the AOC award list. The awarded plant is described as having all yellow-orange segments for the flower. There is a photo of the AOC awarded plant's flower. It is fully yellow.

Since your flower was not yellow through-out, then this could suggest that your plant is not what you think it is, right?

The facts are that were many Catts flower in certain ways in certain states & growing conditions, this one happens to flower this way for me. This is not uncommon, even plants I have sent interstate have flowered differently for them. The plant is totally correct. I'd give up if I were you, your guessing & lack of knowledge isn't needed here.
I flower Rlc. Karen's Sunrise 'Waianae' a lovely green, the nursery I got it from flowers it golden yellow & a person who bought a piece of that same plant has had it awarded golden yellow. There are 3 or 4 years of pics to back this up.

A fully green flower and a fully yellow flower is one thing, and it is known that some green flowers can change to yellow. Where-as a fully yellow flower compared with another one that has a prominent pinkish-red rim around the lip (and around the petals) as well as having a red throat is a very different situation. This means - better do some cross-checking.

SouthPark were you aware that red coloring shows up much more prominently when a plant is flowered in cooler conditions? I’m no expert on the clone in question, but I will post two photos of one of my C. Bella del Caribe, blooming once this summer in very warm conditions and then once again in very cool conditions. Note the obvious differences. All the growing conditions are the same except temperature, in fact only blooming a couple of months apart. It’s not out of the question for a bloom that shows so little red to appear yellow when bloomed warm.

I marked a 'like' for those photos when you posted them Rob. I'm aware of that, for sure. However, your case/situation is very different from the case of fully yellow flowers versus a different flower that has very prominent banding around the lip and petals, and prominent red throat. One of these days - hopefully soon, my 'Laina' is going to flower - and I sure hope it's going to be full yellow - petals, sepals, lip, throat, everything (except for the anther cap ... whitish). I have a plant that will yield flowers similar to the one that Roy showed in the opening post .... perhaps not quite the same ---- just similar -- Rth. Dal's Emperor 'Allan'.

If you look closely you will notice that even some of the very darkest red in the throat of my plant washed completely out to yellow. In Roy’s plant, the red tones, even in the throat, are much softer and more subtle. Not out of the question at all to see it bloom out yellow in different conditions. I have seen some pretty extreme examples of this phenomenon.
