Got this vanda back in January and it sure is pretty now. I love the blooms.
Ascda. Burning Sands 'Mary Motes' Hcc/Aos. ( title updated from post 6)
Cute two tone. Your grow area should be a heaven now BD. god bless.
I have seen these at the vendors, you should see 10 feet of them all in bloom
I like the pattern on that. I think you have a classic case of a label losing some information over time as it gets copied. The family name of the famous Florida orchid grower is Motes, and there is no hybrid simply called Mote or Motes. Most likely this is Ascda. (V.) Motes Burning Sands 'Mary Motes' AM/AOS, but it might be Ascda. (V.) Motes Sunspots 'Mary Motes' HCC/AOS. It looks like the Burning Sands, but I can't find a picture of Sunspots to compare. Similar hybrids, mostly V. lamellata and V. sanderiana, with a little Ascocentrum and V. coerulea, so might be hard to tell apart.
Wow, really pretty!
