Karen, I had the three that had not bloomed for me hanging under the trees I have in the backyard, I moved them hanging onto my gutter on the back of the house where they got more sunlight. Now that the earth is starting the fall rotation and the sun is more south of where it is during the summer I will have to find a different place to get the sunlight they seem to thrive on. All the other Vanda's I have are still hanging under the trees and all bloomed for me this past spring.

Over the years I have had growers tell me that Vanda's like direct sunlight and have also been told that they don't, I have had mine in all locations over the years. I have seen some really nice Vanda's at the place I get most of my supplies and she has hers all in the center of her yard with no sun shade or cover and they get direct sunlight most of the day and there seems to be some in bloom every time I visit. The only thing you should do if you are going to move them to direct sunlight is do it a little at a time so they don't get burned and keep an eye on them.
