    Default NoID Pink Vanda

This is another recent purchase from a local vendor. Nice and healthy but without a tag. Any ID help would be appreciated.

No clue as to species name but nicely done. I have sent pictures of ones I have had that did not or I lost the tag to the two nurseries in Homestead that I bought Vanda's from, once they see the bloom they are usually able to give you a name as if they have grown it they know what it looks like, I had 3 Vanda's this year that I found out the name by doing that. Good Luck!

This is an orchid I purchased here in volusia county for my mom on Mother's Day. She lives down in Plantation so I asked her to go get the name. It is v.siriporn pink, sathien. Sure looks like yours.

Your column (think that's the name of the part) looks like it has some yellow that hers doesn't.

Thanks Sheryl, that's close enough to me.

I will admit, as someone who is relatively new to the world of orchids, right now the name doesn't really matter to me as much (sacrilege, I know!!) but I would like to create a list of what I have, and basically be able to impress non-orchid people with my knowledge!! LOL (Just kidding of course)

I agree with you, the name does not mean as much as the bloom of the orchid. I have a list that I can check on my phone when I am at a show so that I don't buy a duplicate, when you have over 200 orchids and the mind is not what it use to be that list has saved me from duplicates!

You're welcome! Even though I bought my first orchid 22 years ago, I am a complete novice. I just joined this forum recently to start learning about them and man, do I have a lot to learn!

NoID doesn't matter unless I don't even know the genus. Not so much of an issue for phals. But I passed up a nice catt of some variety at the grocery once because I didn't know what type it was and if I could grow it in Colorado. Had I known its name, I could have researched it. But I hate to buy orchids that will have no chance of success here. And knowing what culture it requires at least can be determined from a name.
