How big is the plant? the flower? Do you have a picture of the whole plant. There are only a few registered Catt hybrids with Ernie in the name. If you are sure of that I can probably come up with a suggestion with a little searching.

Among registered Cattleya hybrids with Ernie in the name there are only 2 that could possibly have this appearance.

    C. (Lc.) Ernie MacCarthy was registered in 1968 by Gubler Orchids in California. That company has not been active in registrations since the 1970s.

Rlc. (Blc.) Ernie's Love was registered in 1995 by Hausermann's Orchids in Illinois. They are still active, of course.

Both are fairly standard large Catt breeding, with enough background from C. dowiana that could account for the (not purple, not white) color. They probably could look very similar to each other.

I can't find a picture of either of these hybrids, but I have my doubts that this is one of them. This looks more like a Potinara type (why I asked about size and full plant picture) than a classic big Catt. And though these are the only registered Ernies that might be possible, there could be 'Ernie' cultivars out there. Much harder to track those down but I did find one possibility - Rth. (Pot.) Melinda Rose Funke 'Ernie' with a picture on the Hausermann website. Except for intensity of color, which can vary a lot depending on conditions, it is a fairly good match. Since it is a plant that is currently being sold it might be a good possibility, compared to older hybrids like the others.

All speculation when it comes to identifying a NoID - unless there is more to go on than just Ernie.
