    Default Cattleya lueddemanniana

My favourite species cattleya. Quite small-sized plant (usually below 6 inches tall from rhizome to leaf tip) for a member of the labiate/unifoliate group, but a fast grower that flowers often when grown warm and slightly shaded. I give an airy medium (large size charcoal, styrofoam) that dries out between waterings. The thin-textured flowers are strongly fragrant, but not long-lasting. I have several pink clones, 1 purple one recently-acquired and 1 small backbulb of a coerulea variety which I rescued from black rot. Still looking for semi-alba and other colour variants.

Not very big, Zainal. About 5 inches (12-13cm). May get slightly larger with age.

    Nice flowering Li.

Are you sure your plant is 6 inches in total height? I have 15 lueddemaniana divisions and they are 4-6 inches in height of pseudobulbs and 4-7 inches in leave lengths...

Yes, I'm sure. Lueddemanniana does not seem to grow large and produce large flowers when kept uniformly warm, unlike in the US and other Western countries.
