    Smile Dendrobium platigastrium

This is the 3rd blooming of this Den platigastrium since I have had it. It is going downhill as I have not grown a new cane successfully. Only 2 leaves left on it. So after this bloom cycle, it will try again. This could be critical for its survival.

If you look this orchid up in IOSPE, this is the same one pictured there. Sorry about today's images. My usual photography studio setup can't handle this one.

Very nice flowers Jack. Don't know what kind of light you're giving it but I have a very similar plant, Den. platicaulon. I'm growing it in less light than recommended for phalaenopsis. It's actually hanging off the drip tray of a large hoya hanging basket about two feet from a north-west window and about two feet from the lights. Almost complete shade. Also, I had put moss covering the root system of my plant last summer and noticed in January that the bulbs were starting to shrivel a lot. The newest leaves were also crinkling like an oncidium that needs water. Took off the moss and discovered that there were no roots left. Now there are some new ones a few inches long and the plant is fattening up again. Just some thoughts.

Looks very nice. We almost bought this Dendrobium together. In my opinion, this is a slow grower and root health is very important. I grow in good sun (2-4 hours) at 50% shade. Usually blooms in spring but did not this time.

Wow Harvey such a beautiful dendro. The cane (Stouter) looks almost like a Den. Platycaulon.
