    Default Awarded Dendrobium speciosum

Just got home from the Fairchild Orchid Festival and dropped my jaw when I saw this one. It was awarded the Grand Masters Award and Best in Show, well worth it I think! Over 5000 blooms! Best picture I could get with the crowd around it. This is not mine it belongs to one of the nurseries at the show.

We are down here, this one is in central Florida and this species does not need a winter rest like the ones that are not blooming. I did buy one today that had a winter rest in another state and is in bud.

    Default Dendrobium speciosum

Good to see our Aussie native species flowering well overseas. Dendrobium speciosum receives no special care here, just lots of light all year round. Ours are grown out of the shadehouse and basically neglected but still flower beautifully every year. They grow in a wide climatic range, from the tropics to warm temperate climates. A good beginner's orchid.
