I live just south of Houston, Texas. I was told to hang my Vandas outside which I did - East side of my bird aviary which gets full sun for a few hours a day and then shaded. Well, my Vandas suffered leaf burn!!
When moving orchids into the sun you need to do it a little at a time, you have to give your orchid a chance to get accustom to the extra light, putting them into direct sunlight without acclimation is going to burn them. Take you time and you will see results.
