Looks very nice.
It is always nice to find surprises of blooms in a greenhouse that you did not even know were in spike, nicely done!
Pretty one Bruce!
How awesome. I can't wait for the day my one cattleya blooms for me.
I like the delicate white petals!
I bought my first two cattelyas in early May. Bcl. Greenwhich "Elmhurst" and Rh. Burana Beauty. They were not in flower, but I saw the grower's pictures and had to have them. I got them at the greenhouse. I noticed some desication of pseudobulbs and leaves, but I figured, so what, I'll repot. I repotted both on May 13. Problem was, I was too nervous to cut away rotted roots (well I did cut some),and re-potted. Burana Beauty was in better shape than Bcl. Greenwhich Elmhurst. I was AFRAID of my cattelyas! LOL.
Thanks to your generous help, I re-potted them again. Tons of rotten roots in Greenwhich. I know that it is not a good idea to re-pot so soon, but I got rid of tons of rotted roots, which I was too nervous to do before. There was new root growth evident in both and an eye in Greenwhich. Followed your instructions to a T. They are in 5" pots and left them like that.
The last little part of the tutorial I'm not sure about - " do not water for two weeks, just mist leaves - keep in shade". Do you agree with that? I grow on a south-west windowsill, with slight shading (double layer sheer curtain). I have 2 fans running all the time and supplement humidity with my humidifiers. I do not greenhouse grow. Do you think the last bit of information applies to my conditions?
