I wish I could find an orchid I could totally ignore. If I don't at least take a walk by them in a day or two I feel they are being neglected.

*update* This one is actually SCENTED. I have checked it at different times on different days to be sure. It is best when morning sun has been on it for about an hour. Not really strong, but enough to notice when you get close. Kinda 'fruity'. I never would have believed it.

I think it would depend on the plant. I've never been sure about how Dendrobium should be treated on the other side of the equator. Here we would stop all feeding by the end of September on most types but it is your spring there so it would seem that you would be starting to feed to get the best results

For the hard cane types (this one) I never give them a rest. The soft cane dendrobium types (D. nobile or similar to D. anosmum) seem to appreciate withholding water and fertilizer during the cooler months.

I know most orchid specialists consider these somewhat weeds (that's what an orchid grower once said to me) but I am pretty proud of my purple dendrobiums, but would love some white ones.....

We love them.. We live in an over 50's community, and our orchids are the talk of the complex, whenever anyone gets visitors, they bring them to our garden to look at the orchids, we get a great kick out of that....
