Flowers opened today on this plant which I bought earlier in the year ; since then it has made this bulb which I am quite delighted with. The flowers are curious ; to my eyes they have petals , sepals and lip all more or less the same dark red as seen in the pic of the whole plant ; the camera is seeing difference, and indeed all these lines and shading ( in the pic of the single flower ) which I can't see at all. My eyes ? Maybe, I think just sensitivities of eye and image sensor.
On the other hand, the flower has only opened today. Maybe as it ages, it will develop, they usually do.
Incidentally this clone is not shown in the awarded plant list in Orchidwiz ( 12.3) . I did find it in the new AOS orchidsPlus software which I just bought but it shows a much less neat and shapely flower with lighter colouring, and for example, the typical yellow/gold eye spots in the lip - not visible at all in my plant - or just not visible yet ?

Whatever - my first proper cattleya since I started growing them again after destroying all my collection in a disaster a few years ago, and I love it to bits.

Very nice but not Sanyung Ruby, maybe a hybrid with Sanyung Ruby as a parent. Sanyung Ruby is a large-flowered floofy catt with frilly petals and lip.
