Laelias
Here's a couple of Laelias blooming at the moment here in Oz... so if you are on the northern hemisphere, wait for your Fall (Autumn) to see these beauties in bloom!
1. Laelia anceps
A first blooming seedling which have had since forever, well ok, maybe three and a bit years... I am hoping that when it is a bigger healthier plant it will have more than two flowers...
2. Laelia gouldiana
This is actually only two of four spikes. The other two spikes have a total of seven more flowers. I find this plant a very easy and reliable plant to grow and bloom... in fact it blooms twice a year for me... this flowering being the best so far.
Well, that's it for now, until the others properly open up!
Cheers
Tim

Pretty, Tim!
I thought my purpurata was going to spend another year growing up (got it as a seedling), when it produced a sheath and then did nothing.
But I guess it's on of those Catts that rests after it puts out a new growth, before setting it's buds. Because there be buds now!!! I can't wait!

Thank you all for the kind words....
Murray, what a pity about it's loss in the wild aye... thank goodness that it is widely cultivated so that maybe in the future we can "release"(?) some back into the wild.

Second last...
Here is another of my Laelia anceps in bloom... this is suppose to be variety chamberlainiana but I have my doubts.... the form isn't as good as the first anceps I posted, so the jury is still out on whether it will stay in the collection...
Laelia anceps var chamberlainiana 'Churchill'
only one left to go but it is still in sheath stage so another month for the next show...
