Default Dendrobium falconeri - this week's favourite orchid

First flowering of a seedling ; only a single flower, but the colour sings out to me.
The canes are like thin string, with knots here and there ; should be pendulous it seems - I have been trying to grow it tied up - so I have now released it from bondage and let it all hang out...
Getting the culture right looks a bit tricky ; it is native at as much as 6000 ft, and can go down to as low as 5 or 6 degrees C on winter nights , has very little rainfall for 4-5 months, but is hardly ever bone dry due to mists. I can give it suitable temperatures in my cold frames , but it is difficult to try and mist it there, because a lot of other dendrobiums are in the frames too - all the nobile hybrids for example, and they like it drier . But I shall have a go - a lot of flowers like this would be a siught worth seeing.

A very nice Dendrobium! I have to get started on my cold frames but just so busy with other things that should have been done last month or earlier
