    Default Rlc. Burdekin ????

It may sound silly and math wrong but I have 3 x 1/2 names for this plant..
I have 2 x 1/2 names for the parents & potentially 1 x 1/2 the name of the registered name of the cross. Long time friend owned the plant & I got it through another long time friend because she was killing it. I may add I got 20 or so plants in the same condition. Less than 12 mths I think & I have 5 or 6 plants flowering.
Hopefully we can sort out the name cos I think it has a big future.

It seems like the guy who uses the Burdekin name has a thing for the big overlapping petals, because a lot of his crosses have a similar look. Very few come close to matching this though. What are the partial names?

It's thought, Burdekin (something) x Burdekin (something), that's what's on the label. Original owner had a stroke a while back & memory is hazy. Maybe pics will help, if not we are guessing unfortunately.

The breeder of the Burdekin line (plus a lot of other awarded cross orchids) was Sam Scallia. The wide petals & well filled in flowers is what is called for as an awardable or Champion Orchid in most cases in Australia. It is all about judging standards. Without wishing or wanting to start an argument over judging, many orchids awarded in the USA would be hard pressed to win a 1st place on a general meeting show bench here in Aust'. Not that there is anything wrong with the USA plants, I quite like some of them, its what happens.
