    Default Dendrobium Spring Dawn "Kumiko'

Always the first of the nobile type hybrids to flower in my collection in the Spring - , even as early as late January ; this year flowering now - 4th December. Funny weather we had this year, but why should that affect my plants in the greenhouse with an artificial climate ? The days did not get longer or shorter at any different time ?

Quite small , these flowers, they usually are, but these are a bit smaller than usual.
But don't look a gift horse in the mouth, is an old English proverb. Flowers are always welcome, early or late. This plant is composed of a couple of keikis, rooted maybe 3 years ago ; the canes made this year, which will flower next year, up to about 8 or 9 inches high. I find that these keikis produce successively taller canes for year after year, taking maybe 7 years before they reach their full potential, but they flower when quite small, so still worthwhile. Many of this kind of dendrobium need a cool rest, but this one does not, which is why it flowers so early I suppose.

Nice! I have the same plant. That one is just starting to bud now. Hopefully I'll be able to include at the next show in February.
