I have mine mounted with some sphag between the mount and roots and a little more sphag over the roots. I live in south Florida so my environment is heat and humidity with maybe a few nights that it gets cold for our winter and I have shade cloth covering the structure. It gets watered every day year round and I have some time release fertilizer in there, it blooms for me now several times a year and to me is an easy Cattleya to grow, one of the few I have left. Good luck with yours!
