This is one of my happy memory plants. Way back, in the 60’s and 70’s of the last century , as a young man I was Secretary of a UK orchid Society and part of my job was arranging the program . In those days there were a dozen or so orchid traders with large nurseries , and an easy way to fill the program was to invite someone from each, in turn, to visit us and sell their plants and give a talk.. There were perhaps 7 or 8 dates to fill each year ( shows, AGM, annual plant sale, garden party and so on made up the others). I used to meet these guys if they had driven, and get them to follow me home, give them lunch, a glass of wine to loosen them up, and then lead them to the meeting etc. I go to know someone at all the nurseries, and they got to know me. One was an old man who came by train , lugging the heaviest suitcase ever seen - packed full of plants in 3 inch clay pots - plastic pots had not been invented. He effectively ran the RHS Orchid Committee ( as vice-chairman - the Chairman was never there). So really a top orchid man. We became friends, and he was something of a mentor to me in learning about orchids. He invited me to his nursery when I had the time. I used to have a lot of small jobs in London, perhaps an hour or two in Court, and the rest of the day free ( it was a 2 hour journey from my office to London). So On occasion I would take the train to Tunbridge Wells, and a taxi to visit him. One day he showed me this lovely little red cattleya - my experience with cattleya was nil at the time, They were hardly ever seen at Orchid Society meetings or shows. I was bowled over. He told me it was a remake of an old cross, registered in the 1920s , the parents being L. cinnabarina and Sophro coccinea. and he gave me one. I don’t still have that plant ( later on I sold all my collection when I was sent abroad to open a new office for my firm). But I was delighted to see this plant on offer somewhere, and bought a couple - in memory of my old friend Laurie Humpreys.
I showed it last year with two flowers. Now it has 4 le ads, two of which are flowering, the other two not quite up to that size yet - but I hope to show it again next year with more flowers still. They are not large of course, but still a favourite of mine.

This is probably the most charming clone I have seen of this hybrid.
