Default Cattleya Richard Kosel x Rhyncholaeliocattleya Newberry Sweetheart ‘MBF’

I am really proud of this little plant. It has been through a lot and still really performed. When I bought it last spring, it was still quite a small seedling and only had one living root. I repotted it in a four inch pot with kiwi bark and perlite. A couple of months later, I knocked it off the shelf while I was doing something else. I actually had some three inch clay pots at that time, so I repotted it again in one of those. Well as I was performing the operation, I somehow managed to knock off the new developing growth. Argh! Anyway, a short time later, it started putting on two vigorous new growths. The first to finish has now bloomed with two blooms. The first to open is about three inches across on a five inch plant. The other growth is just about to open and looks as if it may not bloom. Considering its rough upbringing, I’m not disappointed. It’s been one tough little trooper.

We sometimes forget they live in the wild and no one takes care of them like we do, but yet they survive! Nice recovery on yours, a little jewel!!

Thanks, Jack. It does sparkle in the sunlight. Little jewel is appropriate. 😉

That's really a quality flower! And I guess a high-quality plant as well. Having said that, I hope it doesn't suffer any more accidents...

You and me both, Arne. I shall endeavor to keep it safe from harm (namely myself).
