One of the several seedling plants of this species I have in my collection, here flowering in a two inch pot, with two flowering leads, and quite the best shape flowers I have seen for some time. This species will flower on a first bulb only 3 inches high, and go on to get better and better as the years pass by. I once had one with canes regularly 20 inches high - ˝ metre - with long sprays of many flowers - which I killed. The species has thin bulbs or canes which are very finely ridged, and that big plant had some kind of scale insect which lived in the ridges. I tried evefrything I could think of , to kill them - scrubbing the canes with a nail brush soaked in insecticide etc - but they reappeared every time, and I was afraid that it might spread, and I guess one dose of poison was too strong and killed the plant too. So ever since I have been trying to grow a seedling that big. This one now has the latest cane some 8 inches high, so maybe I will get there one day...
