I purchased one in bud at the Lakeside Orchid Show on May 31st. Began blooming 6/5 and blooms are fading today. Is is such a short blooming season?

    The prettiest of the Aerides.

I cut the top of mine this year (I had to). I hope it produces a keiki very soon.

My apologies because my question is off topic, but every time that I take the top off of a vandaceous orchid, and make sure that both pieces have roots, at least 1 piece dies while the other struggles, and most often both pieces die.

Arne, PLEASE, what is the secret?

I did this to my Aerides houlletiana, and the top piece sulked, but produced 2 beautiful spikes this year, and the bottom piece would be dead except that I keep forcing it to try to live. I'm not doing something right.

Gorgeous Sheryl! Mine has a fairly strong lemony scent, quite close to lemon Pledge dusting spray. Is yours the same?

Hi Sus, yes it is a short lived bloom. Enjoy it while you can!
