    Default Cattleya - green NOID

Yesterday I packed up my plants for a show today, and first thing this morning had a quick look in the greenhouse to see if one or two other plants were open ( they were not). Then I came back after placing my entries today, and thought to do a bit of watering in the greenhouse, and found this cattleya out - and if only we could read plant language, no doubt it was laughing at me. What a pity it did not open 24 hours earlier - but that is showing for you.

Never had a label, so no idea what it is ( well, IMHO its a smasher, but that is another matter ! )
Flowers about 4 inches across. I see that its first flowering from flask was on last year's bulb. maybe the dealer/grower thought it had poor flowers - as first flowers often are - so he got rid of it..; so I was lucky.
My growth on it is 25% larger than last year, so would have produced better flowers .

If any idea about a name, just say.

Something about a green flower that just grabs me! It's so pretty Geoff! I think that show would have appreciated your flower!

A good suggestion. The pics in Orchidwiz support this idea. My flowers are a bit smaller, but considering my plant is a young one, that is a difference to be expected. I will tag it with this name plus a question mark.

Thank you, sir. I am deeply impressed that a proposal of mine, to Cattleyae, of which I have no idea, can be accepted by you. Thank you.

Well Lutz, I have been growing orchids for nearly 60 years now, and this means that I really understand just how little I know : and I’m always willing to learn.
