Default Cattleya Goldenzelle ( no particular variety)

As I said in another posting today, my greenhouse was far too cold last night - down to 7 degrees C this morning. So when I went in, all the cattleyas in flower were a sorry mess, except this on . Even here- and I think the flowers only opend in the last few days , they are going off, with some spotting etc. But I guess the humidity went throught the roof - it goes up as the temperature goes down, so it is a bit of a miracle there was anything left to see.
I have quite a lot of catts in bud ; too soon to see if they will survive, but probably yes. The good thing is that all my plants needed watering,( and dry plants survive when wet ones rot) as I have so very little time to look after them, my time being spent in visiting my wife in hospital or care home, sometimes 4 times per day, always 3. After all I could ( but wonder if I would ?) replace my orchids should the need arise, but not my wife.....

The blooms are nice, but agreed that your wife is more important.

The color pattern on the lip of your cattleya looks like the 'Lemon Chiffon' variety, but there are a variety from that grex that appear similar. I like the 'Orange Pumpkin', and 'Taida', too.

When I started with orchids, I bought this Cattleya flowering several times. I like it very much. But I just can't do Cattleyas. Thanks for the nice photo. Maybe it wasn't cold enough in my living room.
