    Default Strange...

I fed this one weekly at half strength using the MSU fertilizer since I got it in March. It grew two new leads, but only one flower per lead...I just attributed it to being due to the first bloom.

My plant is in a 4" pot and has about 10 p-bulbs..

Mine only has 5 bulbs + 1 new lead. when I got it, it had 4 bulbs. It grew 3 more bulbs last year, then 3 of older ones just seperated and I threw them away. So unless it grow 5 more bulbs this year, I might not see mine blooming even next year.

Hmm, sounds odd that you would lose those 3 old growths, somewhere along the line the plant was probably mistreated before you bought it. So in age terms, the plant is 9 growths + new lead. It should be old enough to bloom on the new lead if you keep it happy and well fed.

I think I'm going to have to get one of those, really pretty.

I just realized mine is actually Sc. Crystelle Smith 'Aileen' AM/AOS, the lip is solid yellow.

That's strange. The vendor I bought it from now has a picture of 'Riverbend'. My plant I think looks more like that cultivar than 'Eileen'..however; it was labeled Eileen. I've had problems before with the vendor getting mislabeled plants. ARGH!!

Thinks for the info, Diane. The plant wasn't very strong when I got it and it was shipped in bare root. This is one my first catt collections and I was very green on them at the time. However I tried s/h on them, I guess the more inexperienced you are, the more brave you will get. I think those older growths got rot in s/h and detached from the main growths.

There is no Sc. Crystelle Smith 'Eileen' that's been awarded. That isn't to say a cultivar hasn't been named that, but these types of phonetic labeling errors are common with cultivars. 'Aileen' won an AM/AOS in 1988, the same year that 'River Bend' won an HCC/AOS for the same cross. It's likely both have been cloned. Other than that, Clint, I can't help you with your plant's ID. If you bought it from a larger grower, they might now which cultivar they stocked.

    Maybe...if you're lucky...
