Look out Julie - - lets see, you could hang it from the bottom of one of the other plants that are hanging onto one of your potted plants............

So....Aaron put his lovely Dend on OrchidBids a week ago and Bruce promptly bid on it. During the last week I've been going back and forth with what to do. I don't really have room for it. A keiki really would be more my size.

But I didn't want Aaron to feel unloved either. I thought about bidding on it to show moral support, even if I don't have room, but then I thought it would be unfair to run the price up on Bruce, just to let Aaron know his Dend was appreciated. So I decided to PM Aaron to let him know why I hadn't bid.

Well...Aaron doesn't accept PM's. So after writing up a lovely note to him and having it rejected, I was back to square one. Then I looked at the plant another hundred times, and thought I really could hang it off something that's already hanging.

I thought $10 would still be a great price for it. But again, I didn't want to drive the price up too high if Bruce was really set on it and wanted to counter my offer. So I thought a modest approach would allow for a little back and forth.

So I signed onto OrchidBids and entered a bid of $6. Somewhere on the page it listed a minimum bid of $5.75. I assumed there were minimum increments, but I thought that would be pretty cheesy - trying to save a quarter on such a gorgeous plant. I really did enter $6. To my horror, OrchidBids posted my bid at $5.75! Honest, I'm not that cheesy!

So I'm now the happy, although somewhat embarassed, owner of the lovely Dend! Aaron, do you raise Phrags? I have compots of two relatively new long-petaled crosses that I'll be potting individually in the next couple of weeks. Would you like a seedling of each?

Hey Julie, I don't know why my PM isn't working! I have never done anything to block them. What can I do to make sure I can accept them? As far as phrags... I don't really grow any slipper types, but thank you for the thought. You don't have to worry about the price of the plant! If I wanted more then I would have listed it for more. I was really more interested in giving someone the chance to get a good plant for a good price. I'm sure that if I did pay for it I didn't pay very much. I am not very big on dendrobs, so I am pretty sure that it was thrown into one of my hauls as a perk. That ussually happenes alot! I like to buy plants by the threes, so I'll buy 18 or more plants at a time, and they just say "oh here take this, and one of these free of charge!" The only plants that I don't like to accept is slipper types! I have tried growing them a couple of different times, and for some reason I have a hard time growing them back to bloom. I can grow the hell out of them, and they get very big. But they just don't want to bloom. The three slippers that I do have are the only three that I have managed to convince that blooming is what they need to do, or else! Like I said though, I do certainly appreciate the thought.

Congrats, Julie! You have a beautiful orchid! Thanks to Aaron for putting it up for bids. You are not unappreciated, Aaron, I reached for the 'bid' button so many times my hand is black and blue from getting slapped! Darwin is right tho - we need to see if we can make the ones we have happy before spending our IRA on orchids.
Yeah, Julie! And thanks again to Aaron.
