Default Pot Hoku Gem 'Super Spots'

This was my first minicatt, I think. Been too long. I've had it at least 10 years. It's been divided a number of times [resulting in various trades]. If really happy it will bloom 2-3 times a year. No fragrance but the flowers typically last me about 6weeks. Rather unfortunately, the spotting is always super heavy on the BACK side of the flowers. Flowers generally age to a fairly light, bright yellow. Not sure why, but this time, the one spike of 3 flowers are all abit warped. The other, bearing only a single flower has the normal shape.

    Cool spotting, Pavel!

If the plant doesn't get the ideal amount of water and nutrients when its forming the spikes and buds, some of the flowers can have sub-optimal form. My mini-catt does that too. It will also put out fewer flowers. I try and up the water and fert as the new growth approaches spike time, and really seems to make a difference in # of blooms, flower form and blooming length.

Very interesting with the spots on the back of the bloom. I like it.

    Cheers!
