not as nicely bloomed as Hoa's of course, this one is a first bloomer and only has a single flower (on the windowsill, these standard catts almost require as much patience as the #@%@^ paphs). I particularly like this cultivar for the clear yellow segments and the gold-veined cherry red lip reminiscent of its dowiana heritage.

    Hi Jason,

That is one beautiful bloom. Gorgeous yellow color. It apears to me that you might want to wait a bit further for the lip to fully extend.

BTW, Diane, please please don't feel like that ... You are among friends and we certainly will enjoy your pictures and the effort regardless ...
    Cheers. Hoa.

funny, I guess I have the memory of a goldfish coz I thought "that is the most beautiful flower... never seen one before in my life"... hmm... I'll just blame it on the fact that it's 4 in the morning..

what is wonderful about the colours is that they are complementary yet compete for attention... so I'm not sure which I like more - the bright sunny yellow or the lipstick lushness of the red.

    Lovely, Jason!

I'm going to set mine - a birthday present last March from Doc Spock - in front of the monitor and leave your photo up all night so it will take inspiration. Did yours spike quickly on the new growth, or did it sit around with an empty sheath for awhile?

The problem with all the pretty flowers is that they make want to buy more orchids. Bad Karen, no, no more orchids right now the bathroom is FULL! I must resist.

Jmoney, that is a beautiful flower.

hmm..the sheath was there for a while (a month maybe?) but the buds developed while it was still green and before it shriveled. be careful about the power of transference: Hoa recently put up a pic of a Mahina Yahiro...and sure enough mine spikes and throws the nastiest crippled color-break infested blooms ever.
