I have heard that the orchids do have parties when you aren't home, plus the fact that the kitties drink all of your wine and make long distance phone calls. At least they don't borrow the car, I THINK!!!

Hmmm - so THAT'S whats been happening to all my whites!! (I'd be able to see the stains if she was getting into the reds!) Guess I'm gonna have to start hiding the extra car keys!

Now I know why only select orchids die in my house! Obviously, the other ones are jealous and bump them off. MURDERS!

I've found that, if you look closely, you can often find faint trails of orchid mix leading back to the guilty parties. A real case for CSI.

There I was.... Schomburgkias to left, and vandas on the right. They seemed to be closing in on me from all sides, and all I had for protection was a pair of sheers and a blow torch. The schomburgkias were the first to come after me, swinging their dead spikes at my face and back. They were going for my eyes, and leaving welts on my back. The brysiana was the first one to get close enough for me to grab. I wrestled him to the floor, and pinned it down. All the while looking for the right place on the rhizome to chop him into two. After making the precise snip, a blood curdling scream resonated through out the greenhouse. His family members backed down after they saw what had happened to one of their largest, most respected family members. I stood up, the cold sweat was beginning to dry now. I let the now two pieces of brysiana limp away, I had broken his rhizome and his spirit. As much as these plants think that own me, sometimes you have to show them who the boss is.

Aaron, where are you located that you get snowbirds? We get hundreds of thousands of them in our southern CA desert communities. Good for the economy. Most of them are in RV parks as housing is at a premium here.
Your orchid is so beautiful, I am green (or should I say purple) with envy.

I live in SW Florida. The snow birds come down every year. It almost makes me want to go up north
