You don't see much tetragonum in that cross...but you see lots of the kingianum. The plant looks very healthy. I have to grow my kingianum very cool and dry to initate flowering....I assume you don't need to with this hybrid if you are growing it with Phrags.

Lol. = LJA or Louis. He is in graduate school now and working full time. He is getting a degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. He used to run RVO full time when we were selling orchids to the public. Somewhere on here is a thread where someone called Yoda because of his knowledge about orchids. I updated the smilies to include the 'yoda' smilie and now it is kinda short-hand for Louis.

    Cheers,

    Hi Todd,

A few posts back in this thread, McJulie put up the orchids that make up this cross. We grew this one for awhile with the other dends, but it did not really do much. It was moved to the benchs with the phrags for some reason and all the sudden it started growing and blooming. It is potted in a medium & large bark mixture with lots of sponge rock, some charcoal, and about a inch or inch and a half layer of styro-peanuts in the bottom of the pot. The phrags we grow around this guy are warm growing phrags and so are located at the opposite end of the gh from the cool cell (the warmest part in the summer) & the coolest part in the winter. Jim Beck is on the next to top level of a four level/ tiered bench and sits under a large vanda who's roots hang just about a foot above it. I am sure all of these elements play a part in the plants health. I am not sure which one helps the most. Our other dends are grown on the outside edges of the gh on the top bench levels. We have them on the center bench too, but they are on the end by the large clear glass door and get lots of light. Hope this helps explain any confusion with this orchid. It really is a nice one to grow and in our conditions anyway, fairly easy to bloom.

    Cheers,
    BD
